a land down under

One of my earliest television memories is those live shows the BBC used to have on Christmas day mornings.  Presented from the top of the British Telecom tower by Noel Edmonds, the high point of each show would be "reuniting" a UK family with their relatives in Australia by satellite.  Three decades on, communicating with home is much simpler, but sadly not quite as simple or cheap, as in Hong Kong or Tokyo.

For a London boy, one of the most remarkable things about Sydney is how compact it is.  Pretty much everything in the centre is walkable.  On my first day, in a somewhat zombified state, I took a tour of the Sydney Opera House.

Customs House in Sydney has this rather cool model under the floor.

On Wednesday I met up with one-time Croydonian, Ben- who took me on an awesome walk from Coogee Beach to Bondi Beach.
