a tale of two olympic cities

I'm now back in Sydney.  On Thursday I took a ferry ride to see the site of the Sydney Olympics 2000.  I shouldn't have bothered.  Don't get me wrong, the ferry ride was great, but the park itself was more like an industrial estate, than a venue for the greatest show on earth.

and the winner is....Sydney?
It's quite a contrast to the 1956 Olympic site in Melbourne- one of the many sporting venues that are housed there is the Melbourne Cricket Ground.  Earlier in the week, I took a guided tour of this vast arena.
