there are many Disneylands, but only one Disneyworld

we're going to Disney World!

There are now five Disney theme park resorts across the globe, but for the total Disney experience you really have to come to Florida.  At a total size of fifty square miles, Disneyworld is simply massive.  It has four theme parks, dozens of hotels & resorts, water parks, a downtown entertainment area and a mass transportation system that rivals some cities.

The best parts of Disneyworld are as good as any theme park I've ever been to, but there are some things that are better elsewhere; not least the fact that in Paris and California you can walk to the next park rather than travelling several miles.  The downtown part of the resort is rather charmless and compares unfavorably to the similar area at Universal.  There is also the small problem that Disney does not yet have a ride to rival the boy wizard at Universal.

Don't get me wrong, I still love this place but it could do with a little work and could learn alot from its nearest neighbor and global siblings.

this place is huge,

talking of the future...

before we head off to EPCOT, here's a few cool disney tees.

a free monorail service gets you to Epcot

it goes thru the middle of this hotel

Epcot is the second park that Disney have in Florida.  It's kinda like a mix between the Science museum and a Worlds Fair.  It's also double the size of the Magic Kingdom and rather beautiful.  The front of the park is dedicated to Science.
test track...could this be the future home of cars land?

We used to get free drinks at this ride, because it was sponsored by my Dads firm Exxon.  Sadly no more.

the seas with nemo, a cool reinvention of an old attraction

After the "science bit", you can go round eleven countries in an afternoon.

France

Italia

probably the best way to see Mexico at the moment.

The park looks rather cool at night.

Onward to the next park...

If I were to say "what do the movies Mulan & Pearl Harbor have in common?".  You may answer that they are both over ten years old, they were both made by Disney.  I can also tell you that they are the movies referred to in the Animation and special effects attractions at Disney's Hollywood Studios- meaning that parts of this park feel a bit out of date.  On the positive side, this park has some decent attractions- not least the Florida version of Star Tours- now updated and featuring several different journeys.

shouldn't that be "avec aerosmith"?

the american idol experience is pretty cool.

the pearl harbor theming of this has questionable taste

and the final park... Disney's Animal Kingdom

All Disney resorts (except Japan) have one of these:  A half day park.  Planned during the 1990's and built on a reduced budget, they simply don't have enough attractions to keep you busy for a full day.  In the next few years Disney intend to solve this problem by building a land based on Avatar.

the park does look good

more crystal palace park than jurassic park...
